Through her educational platform, Chefspiration, Sylvia mentors the next generation of culinary leaders, teaching not just cooking skills but confidence and leadership.

My Story

Sylvia Pennington is a celebrated chef and passionate culinary instructor who has turned her love for Creole cuisine and mentorship into a life of purpose and inspiration. As the owner of SAPS Creole Cuisine and a finalist for the Emerging Minority Business of the Year through the Little Rock Regional Chamber, Sylvia’s journey is one of resilience, passion, and leadership.

A Journey of Strength and Resilience

Sylvia's story began in New Orleans, where her roots in Creole cooking were planted. However, her life took a drastic turn during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when she lost everything. Despite the devastation, she persevered with immense determination, rebuilding her life and career from the ground up. Sylvia's experiences of surviving Katrina and growing up in a challenging environment—where she had to defend herself and navigate limited resources—fostered her incredible resilience and integrity.

Sylvia’s love for food and her community shines through in every dish she creates. With over a decade of experience, she specializes in authentic Creole flavors, bringing the vibrant tastes of her heritage to every plate. Her ability to blend traditional techniques with innovative approaches sets her apart as a culinary visionary, inspiring those who work alongside her.

As the founder and lead instructor at Chefspiration, Sylvia is dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of culinary leaders, with a special focus on empowering young women and minorities. Through hands-on learning and personal mentorship, Sylvia instills values of hard work, creativity, and perseverance in every student she teaches.
